With Mother Nature providing graduates and their families and friends a sun-soaked early summer day, members of the Class of 2009 took their final bows at West Islip High School's 52nd graduation ceremony that included platitudes for retiring High School Principal Ken Hartill and a surprise unveiling from Valedictorian Sherilyn Hellberg.

For the third time in the past four years, West Islip High School Boys Lacrosse Coach Scott Craig and the West Islip Lions sit atop the high school lacrosse world in New York having won the State Class A title with a convincing 10-5 win over Orchard Park in early June. In an interview with WestIslipTribune.com, Craig reflected on the team's championship season and offered a glimpse toward next year's squad.

The trip to Rochester was a successful one for the now 22-1 West Islip Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team as the Lions defeated the Quakers of Orchard Park 10-5 to capture the team's third New York State Class A Championship over the past four years.
