Good Samaritan To Enhance Safety Of Newborns

By WestIslipTribune.com

The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation recently awarded $250,000 to be allocated toward the purchase of a new, state-of-the-art, infant anti-abduction system. A concern about infant abductions, mother/baby mix-ups, and wandering patients has been of heightened awareness and concern throughout the country, according to hospital officials. The Foundation’s contribution enables Good Samaritan Hospital to continue a tradition of providing high-quality health care for the community.

“Although there had been no problem or breach of security, the Foundation Board unanimously felt the importance of remaining ever vigilant in continuing to provide the best technological advancements for the safety of Good Samaritan’s newborns,” said John Halleron, III, chairman of the Foundation Board. He added the system gives parents and staff great comfort knowing that babies are safe at Good Samaritan.

Each year, Good Samaritan cares for more than 3,000 maternity patients each year.
